After their opening 12-6 defeat to Italy, the Sand eagles staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Mexico 5-4 in extra time on Sunday.

Nigeria now have two points from two matches and will need a win against Iran to sail through.

Iran, meanwhile, are second in group B on three points. Already qualified Italy take on eliminated Mexcio in the other group B match.

Africa’s other representatives, Senegal battle Switzerland for top place in Group A. Both teams are already through to the last 8.

Ousted hosts, the Bahamas play Ecuador in Group A.
