The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate says the federal government is committed to strengthening Nigeria’s health system by advancing the fight against fake drugs through deeper inter-agency collaboration with relevant institutions.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Retired) in Abuja on Friday, the minister praised the agency’s efforts in curbing illicit drug use.

Prof. Pate emphasised the need for a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach in fighting the complex challenge of illicit drug use, which he described as a major contributor to mental health issues and social dysfunction.

The Minister also assured the NDLEA of support in areas such as training, medical staffing, and data collection for improved drug use monitoring.
