As the fight against the smuggling of illegal goods continues in the country, the Customs Federal Operations Unit Zone D has intercepted items seized from smugglers within its areas of joint operation.

The Customs Federal Operations Unit Zone D Controller Abubakar Lawal briefs journalists as he displays the seizure at the command headquarters in Bauchi State.

Items seized from the smugglers include four hundred and forty-eight jerrycans of premium motor spirit, one hundred and ninety-two bales, and two sacks of secondhand clothing,One hundred and forty cartons of foreign spaghetti.

One hundred and twenty-five pairs of desert and jungle boots, forty-seven bags of foreign parboiled rice,50kg each and pangolin scales (9.40 kg).

Some of the tactics used by the smugglers in deceiving customs operatives are also disclosed to journalists.

The duty-paid value of all the seizures as accounted for is one hundred and ten million, four hundred and ninety-nine thousand. Three hundred and fifty-two naira only.
